This is a semester-long parallel course about the effective patient-centered communication in various healthcare settings, information and data gathering from the patient for various presenting complaints, and for all other aspects of history taking including associated symptoms and review of systems. Ethics and Jurisprudence of clinical practice are overviewed in one major block during the course. Learning is designed to assist the student in developing fundamental clinical skills upon which they will build throughout their professional lives. Simulated clinical encounters are underpinned by the use of Simulated Patient’s (SP’s) and Small Group Discussions which serve to polish each student’s individual communication skills.
