The Unit of Athletics Hosts a Virtual Awareness Workshop for Umm Al Quwain Municipality Employees

The Unit of Athletics at the Office of Student Life at Ajman University, organized a virtual awareness workshop titled "Golden Tips" for office workers at the Umm Al Quwain Municipality. The workshop was presented by Abdulhameed Bakour, Sports Activities Supervisor, in collaboration with student Mahmoud Taneera. This workshop is part of the Athletics Unit's commitment to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG), particularly focusing on good health and well-being.

The workshop aimed to equip participants with valuable tips to improve health and well-being in their daily office routines. It emphasized the significance of health and physical fitness at work, offering guidance on proper posture, deep breathing, and simple desk exercises. Practical demonstrations included relaxation, stretching, and muscle strengthening exercises that employees can easily perform in their offices without special equipment.

Additionally, the workshop featured exercises designed to enhance physical fitness and alleviate stress, specifically tailored for the office setting. These exercises incorporated the 40-15-5 rule, advocating 40 minutes of sitting, 15 minutes of standing, and 5 minutes of movement, known for its effectiveness in boosting blood circulation and reducing both physical and mental stress. Moreover, an office-friendly resistance exercise was introduced to target arm, chest, and shoulder strength, promoting overall physical resilience. Additional exercises requiring repetition between 10 to 15 times were also presented to enhance physical fitness and support overall well-being.

Moreover, emphasis was placed on the importance of deep breathing, which enhances blood and oxygen flow to the lungs, improving blood circulation, and reducing the risk of respiratory diseases such as pneumonia and other infections.

The workshop concluded with a Q&A session, providing attendees with the opportunity for a deeper understanding of the exercises and how to integrate them into their daily lives to enhance their physical fitness and overall health.
