The Office of Medical Services Hosts National Seasonal Influenza Awareness Campaign

In alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 3, which aims to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all, the Office of Medical Services at Ajman University hosted the National Seasonal Influenza Awareness Campaign, organized by Emirates Health Services under the slogan “Protect Yourself... Protect Your Community.” This campaign targeted the entire Ajman University community, including students.

The campaign aims to raise health awareness about the importance of vaccination against seasonal influenza, providing comprehensive information on prevention methods and health practices. It encourages individuals, particularly those at higher risk—such as children, the elderly, pregnant women, healthcare workers, and people with chronic illnesses—to get vaccinated.

In this context, Dr. Fetta Djessas, Medical Services Manager, emphasized that hosting the campaign is part of the Office of Medical Services’ ongoing efforts to enhance public health and create a safe, healthy educational environment. She noted that the office’s commitment to providing a variety of medical services aimed at improving the quality of life for both staff and students, including regular check-ups, health programs, and medical consultations.

Dr. Djessas confirmed that the campaign saw the participation of 142 faculty and administrative staff, along with 100 students. She emphasized the office's commitment to promoting awareness of both mental and physical health by organizing workshops and training sessions aimed at equipping the AU community with the knowledge needed to improve their lifestyles.

She affirmed that these efforts align with the University’s commitment to fostering creativity and excellence while prioritizing the health of the community. She urged everyone to actively participate in health events and preventive programs to help create a vibrant, healthy environment.
