Parents Applauded as True Heroes at White Coat Ceremony for Pharmacy Students at Ajman University
The College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at Ajman University held its annual White Coat Ceremony for Pharmacy students on October 1, 2024. The event celebrated the academic excellence and indomitable spirit of the students stepping into the challenging healthcare profession, as well as the role of their parents as the true guiding forces behind their success.
The Ceremony opened on a patriotic note, with the UAE national anthem being played, followed by the recitation of Quranic verses. An awe-inspiring video showcasing AU students during clinical practice was played, serving as a powerful motivation for the new students and instilling in them the values of academic excellence, innovation, and community service upheld by AU.
Chancellor Dr. Karim Seghir congratulated the students and termed their parents as ‘true heroes due to their unwavering support in the success of their sons and daughters. Chancellor Seghir also thanked the faculty members for inspiring students to think with innovation and compassion. Applauding the students for choosing Ajman University, Chancellor Seghir urged them to become the best versions of themselves and ‘make your future happen.’
Dean Dr. Abeer Al Ghananeem, while addressing the audience, termed the ceremony as the beginning of a new chapter in the lives of students. She expressed pride and confidence in the abilities of the students in shaping a glorious future for themselves. Dr. Abeer called the white coat ‘a symbol of trust, knowledge and responsibility’ and called upon the students to make their impact felt in the society through their talent, compassion and dedication to excellence.
Alumna Ms. Eman Zarguine, Sales Manager at Medworks Medical Equipment, delivered a speech on how a degree from AU had helped shape her career and the opportunities that exist after graduating from Ajman University.
The White Coat Ceremony is a significant ritual in which students are cloaked in their first white coat, symbolizing their transition into the noble and socially significant profession of healthcare. It sets the tone for their future as compassionate and skilled healthcare professionals.
