Nursing Students Receive Rousing Initiation into the Profession at the Annual White Coat Ceremony

The College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at Ajman University held its annual White Coat Ceremony for students of the Nursing program on October 2, 2024. The event marked the initiation of the students into the challenging nursing profession that calls upon its practitioners to demonstrate unparalleled compassion and integrity alongside top-notch healthcare skills to emerge as true ambassadors of their profession.

As the students received their white coats and pledged themselves to the profession by taking the oath, it marked a symbolic and inspiring moment for the audience and the students themselves.

Chancellor Dr. Karim Seghir addressed the audience and students, congratulating them on stepping into the noble healthcare profession. While commending the students, Chancellor Seghir termed their parents as ‘true heroes’ behind their children's success.

He called upon the students to make the most of the opportunity to study at a top-ranked institution that is globally recognized for academic excellence and employability.

Dean Dr. Abeer Al Ghananeem, while addressing the audience, termed the ceremony as the beginning of a glorious future for the students who will receive world-class training to emerge as compassionate and skilled healthcare professionals with the potential to make significant contributions to society.

Dr. Sumaya Al Blooshi, President of the Emirates Nursing Association and Director of the Nursing Department at Emirates Health Services, in her keynote speech, spoke about the significance of nursing in the country and the opportunities awaiting students in the job market after graduation.

Student Sara Samir eloquently articulated her pride and joy during the ceremony when she said, “This is such an inspiring moment. It makes us feel even more responsible and aware of our significant role in society as future healthcare professionals.”

Student Mohammed Eizat, cloaked in his white coat, was beaming with pride as he thanked the University for inviting parents to the ceremony and honoring them. He termed the ceremony “well-organized, inspiring, and memorable.”

The White Coat Ceremony is a significant ritual in which students are cloaked in their first white coat, symbolizing their transition into the noble and socially significant profession of healthcare. It sets the tone for their future as compassionate and skilled healthcare professionals.
