Dr. Nahla Al Qassimi Participates in Celebration of World Engineering Day in Lisbon

Dr. Nahla Al Qassimi, Dean of Student Services and Professor at the College of Architecture, Art, and Design, at Ajman University, participated in the main event of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) held on the occasion of the World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development. The theme for this year was "Engineering Solutions for a Sustainable World", and the event took place on Monday, March 4, 2024, in Lisbon.As an Executive Council member representing the Middle East and North Africa, Dr. Al Qassimi's attended WFEO Board committees’ meetings and an Executive Council Special Meeting.

The World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development showcased the inauguration of a conference on Energy Transition and Sustainability, hosting insightful discussions on cutting-edge technologies and innovations. Sessions were enriched by the contributions of a diverse group of experts and researchers spanning engineering, technology, and environmental fields.

The World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development was established during the 40th UNESCO General Conference in 2019, with March 4th designated as the global day for engineering for sustainable development. It aims to raise awareness of engineering's vital role in addressing climate change challenges and achieving sustainable development.

Dr. Al Qassimi's active engagement in international conferences underscores the importance of fostering cultural and knowledge exchange within engineering. Her involvement provides a vital platform for sharing cutting-edge technologies, enriching academic curricula, and advancing students' learning.
