Ajman University Students Prove their Engineering Mettle, Win Three Places at IEEE Student Day Competition 2023

Ajman University students from the College of Engineering and Information Technology (CEIT) emerged as winners across three different categories in the 17^th IEEE Student Day Competition held on April 29, 2023 at the American University of Sharjah.

A total of 39 engineering students from Ajman University organized across 11 groups, participated in the competition that had 5 different categories namely -         Engineering Design Project (EDP), Common Design Project (CDP), Software Engineering Project (SEP), Senior Design Project (SDP), and Community Service. The Senior Design Project category was further sub-divided into the Computing & Robotics track, Communications & Electronics track, and the Power and Renewable Energy track.

 A group of AU students comprising Sana Abouelnour, Sama Gaber, Mariam Elkhatib, Ragad Ahmed, and Sondos Bsharat took the second prize in the Senior Design Project-Computing & Robotics category for their project on skin cancer detection. They were supervised by Prof. Khaled Assaleh, Prof. Kamran Arshad, and Mr. Wessam Shehieb.

 In the Senior Design Project-Communication and Electronics category, Rand Abu El-Soud won second place for her project on Intelligent alarm system for emergency vehicles. She was supervised in the project by Eng. Khaled Mahfouz.

 Rahaf Naser, Karim Abouelat, Abeedallah Mohammed Saafan and Ayah Alchakee were recipients of the third prize in the category of Community Service for their project called ‘It’s OK.’ They were supervised by Engr. Mohamed Agam.

The IEEE UAE Student Day is an annual event organized by the IEEE UAE Section for all engineering students in the country. The event enhances the culture of competition among engineering students from various UAE universities and recognizes outstanding achievements of IEEE student members while providing them opportunities to share their experiences and gain leadership qualities.
