Ajman University Runs Virtual Hub to Answer Students’ Queries

Ajman University (AU), geared up to boost communication with its students amid the unprecedented Covid 19 health challenges, has run a Virtual Student Hub to answer their questions and attend to their concerns.

The pioneering live YouTube-based meeting was held under the theme: ‘Stay safe, informed and connected’, in the presence of AU Chancellor, Dr Karim Seghir, and members of the higher management.

Dr. Seghir said Ajman University spares no effort to professionally and flexibly attend to all students' concerns re assessments, semester and future study. "Students' safety, health and wellbeing shall remain a priority for us."

AU is committed to offering students the best possible “cyber campus” experience, he added. “Our faculty will keep making online education happen with innovative and engaging strategies.”

In answer to a question about changes in the academic calendar, Dr. Seghir said the midterm assessment period is start on April 12 instead of March 8, 2020)

“The last day of classes is May 5 instead of May 6, 2020, while the final assessment period shall be held on May 6 - 16 instead of May 7 - 17, 2020.”

As for Summer term 3 (2019), it will kick off on June 07, 2020, as per the published 2019-2020 academic year, while courses will be delivered online, Dr Seghir announced.

“Rest assured that your professors will be understanding and accommodating throughout the process. Of course, AU’s commitment to academic integrity will continue to be unwavering even as we seek to be flexible under the circumstances.

Elaborating, the cabinet members present said online admission applications will open on April 12. “Applicants need to submit scans of all available documents, certificates and scores to date to https://apply.ajman.ac.ae/. Provisional acceptances shall be in accordance with the Ministry of Education (MOE) instructions.”

Dr Seghir said AU has run a special virtual program for cocurricular activities. “The Office of Student Life has launched an online initiative called “Stay Home and…” (draw, workout, play music, and sing, etc.) to keep students engaged with cocurricular activities and each other.”

Meanwhile, the students have had full answers to their questions on academic warnings, tuition, transport, laboratory, and dental training fees. “The course withdrawal period with a ‘W’ grade will be extended through May 5, 2020,” they disclosed.
