Ajman University Co-organizes IFI 2020 Congress

The Interior Design Department, Ajman University (AU), has participated in the organization of the International Federation of Interior Designers (IFI) 2020 Congress.

The global event, was held in Dubai, UAE, on February 25 – 28, 2020, in cooperation with the Association of Professionals Interior Designers (APID), the only professional association in the MENA Region.

The event, themed ‘Interior Design in 2050’, witnessed global industry representatives and keynote speakers, according to Dr. Naglaa Sami Abdelaziz, Head of Interior Design Department, College of Architecture, Art and Design.

“All participants were so keen to share their progressive ideas, knowledge and developments that influence and shape the evolving practice of interior design all over the world.”

She added that the congress program mainly focused on the identification and discussion of the interior design challenges.

“It shows how interior design can play a significant role in influencing and promoting a positive change in the society.”

Dr. Abdelaziz said the gathering provides a key platform for sharing research and design solutions.

“It also promotes innovation at the local and global levels and features leading thought leaders from global interior designers and the design profession in general.”

The multi-faceted conference program, featuring local and international speakers, reflects the host city, she elaborated.

“It also includes numerous sessions and panel discussions on the development of a curricula for interior design education.”

While several workshops focused on the manufacturing process, smaller and more intimate sessions were dedicated for discussing the policy and practice developments affecting the profession of interior design, Dr. Abdelaziz explained.

“Cultural tours were also organized for exploring the host city, Dubai, and being acquainted with the Emirati local styles.”
