AU Students Won Top 3 Places in UAE 2019 Hackathon

A team of three students from the Department of Electrical Engineering, College of Engineering and Information Technology won the first place in the UAE 2019 Hackathon for their smartphone application that can detect vitamins deficiency by using artificial intelligence. The diagnosis of the user’s health is done by taking a picture of the eyes, the lips, the tongue and the nails. Based on these pictures, the smartphone application determines the pathological condition. It is worth mentioning that the team was consisted of Ahmad Saif Eldeen, Mohamed Ait Gacem and Saifeddin Alghalayini.

Moreover, the Python team won the second place for their project ‘The Technology of Roadblock Control’ that was engineered to reduce the response time in emergencies where the normal response average time is 8 minutes. The team was consisted of 3 students from the IT Department of the College of Engineering and Information Technology, in addition to 2 students from the College of Humanities and Sciences.

It is worth noting that by using this technology, the obstacles and congestions can be reduced, and destination can be reached in less time. The students who took up this project were Iman Salim Al Darmaki, Reem Aladdin, Afrah Amer, Khuloud Ghassan and Nojoud Mohsen.

The third place was won by the "Innovative Youth" team, and was supported by Ajman University Innovation Center. This team consisted of a student from the College of Engineering and Information Technology at the University and a team of Ajman Police General Command, who took part in the project titled “Smart UAE" which provides information to the user according to its availability in the “UAE Data " website.

In turn, the University was also honored for hosting the UAE Hackathon this year in Ajman phase.
