AU Students on Relief Mission to Kerala

Ajman University (AU), committed to humanitarian service, has dispatched a relief mission of 20 students to Kerala state in India.

The voluntary excursion, run by the Deanship of Student Affairs in the University, was in line with AU values of tolerance, compassion and social responsibility.

The team, including members of the White Hearts Student Club, made a huge impact on the children visited at disadvantaged school in Kochi; a major port city on the south-west coast of India.

Other than spending a quality and fun-filled time with the kids, AU students renovated their school, decorated its walls in a nice and positive way, and taught the kids the principles and basics of English language.

An awareness campaign was also run on oral health to advice the children on the right way to clean their teeth and use a toothbrush. This is apart from regular check-ups and treatment services at a specially equipped place there.

AU students later visited an orphanage where they presented some gifts to the students there putting a smile on their faces.

Student Activity Supervisor Mr. Saleem Derbas, who accompanied the students in their relief trip, was excited about AU students’ compassion about voluntary work and community service.

The same was hailed by Dr. Nahla Al Qassimi, Dean of Student Affairs, who paid special tributes to the White Hearts Club members; “You are indeed Ajman University ambassadors for humanity.”
