The four-year program has received initial accreditation from the Commission for Academic Accreditation of the Ministry of Education of the United Arab Emirates.

Ajman University Chancellor Dr. Karim Seghir, Ph.D., said the nascent program reflects the university passion to keep pace with the requirements of the local, regional and the international labour market in all engineering fields.

“The program, to kick off in the academic year 2019-2020, will be an added value to the growing list of bachelor degrees being offered by the AU College of Engineering and Information Technology.”

These span Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Information Systems and Information Technology, he explained

“The Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering program is intended to provide aspirant students with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary for pursuing successful professional career.”

Prof. Fahar Hayati, Dean of the College of Engineering and Information Technology, said successful candidates need to obtain a UAE Secondary School Certificate; Science Major, or equivalent with minimum percentage of 70%.

“Graduates of mechanical engineering will find career opportunities in a wide range of industries, including power and energy, automation and manufacturing, aerospace and transportation, as well as services and logistics, building and construction, healthcare and medical equipment.”

Mechanical engineers can also work in technical and managerial positions in companies and as engineering consultants in both private and government sectors, he said. “Mechanical engineering graduates are also in demand in areas of research and development as well as in engineering higher education.”
