Ajman University to Offer Dh20m Annual Scholarships

Ajman University (AU), all set to empower youth, is to offer scholarships up to Dh20 million on an annual basis to 66 per cent of its students.

AU Chancellor Dr. Karim Seghir, Ph.D., made the announcement during the University annual gathering held this year at Sheikh Zayed Centre for Conferences and Exhibition under the theme ‘Hope of Dinner’.

The event was attended by His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman and Chairman of the Ajman University, Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Ajman Municipality and Planning Department, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees.

Dr Seghir said Ajman University has wide opened the door for donation. “We have come up with an innovative principle of giving whereby Ajman University auctioned off its rare items to make a positive on students’ academic life and future.”

The one-of-a-kind items that came under the hammer included an Ajman-issued car number plate presented by Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and Chairman of the Executive Council, he added.

“Sheikh Rashid Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Ajman Municipality and Planning Department, Vice President of the Board of Trustees, has contributed a classic Volkswagen car.”

The other contributions spanned a limited edition Hublot watch from Ahmed Siddiqui and sons, part of the Kaaba Kiswa or cover and a Quran cop wrapped wrapped in part of Kaaba Kiswa from the World Youth Business Club, and an inspiring painting by Ms. Mona Al-Jabali, Fine Arts Executive at Ajman University, he elaborated.

Dr. Seghir hailed H.H Sheikh Humaid for his visionary leadership of Ajman University. “With his wise leadership and continuous support, this historic institution has earned a place on the global map of higher education.”

AU Board of Trustees have turned the University into a place where innovation and compassion intersect, and a place where students are empowered to reach their full potential, he added.

“AU is now ranked among the top 3 per cent of universities in the world”, he disclosed. “Ajman University was also named one of the top 150 universities under the age of 50 worldwide. Over the last year, we earned prestigious international accreditations for five of our programs.”

AU received Five QS Stars – the highest possible rating – in three different categories: social responsibility, learning environment and inclusiveness, he stated.

“We also received Four QS Stars in the categories of teaching and internationalization. These ratings prove, yet again, that AU is an institution of excellence fully committed to social responsibility.”

Dr Seghir also congratulated AU 37,000 alumni for putting their education to work around the world. “I applaud our faculty and staff for their willingness to make change happen.”

Ajman University provides students with the tools to unlock their potential –tools like our mobile dental clinic, labs and studios that puts classroom skills to work in real life, he underlined.

“We provide our students with life-changing experiences in the form of exchange programs and volunteer missions, he pointed out. “This year, in honor of AU’s 30-year history as a socially responsible institution.”

Meanwhile, His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman, accompanied by Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi and Dr. Karim Al Sigher, honored the sponsors and supporters of AU students.
