Sheikh Majid Al Nuaimi inaugurates the Third Media Forum at Ajman University

Sheikh Majid bin Saeed Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the court of HH the Ruler of Ajman, inaugurated the Third Media Forum activities organized by the College of Mass Communication and Humanities at Ajman University under the theme of  "Experiences and Communication", which was held on Jan. 21, 2018 at Sheikh Zayed Conference Center. The Forum was attended by His Excellency Saeed Al-Matroushi, Secretary-General of the Executive Council of the Government of Ajman, Brigadier General Dr. Jassim Khalil Mirza, Director of Security Information Department in the Public Administration for the Welfare of the Community, Prof. Maji Halawani,  a professor of Media at Cairo University, and a number of prominent media persons in the country.

Dr. Al-Saghir, the University Chancellor, started his speech by welcoming the audience of the Forum. He focused on the university's keenness to strengthen the relationship between what is happening within AU and the community of activities and to break the barriers between the university and the owners of ideas and tender in various fields, especially in the field of media.

He added that this Forum represents an invitation to the continuity of generations through the construction of knowledge and profession, and it carries educational values that the University is keen to consolidate. Due to the role of the University in the research field and its responsibility towards the society and students, the theme of the Forum is a clear expression of that vision starting with "the national role of the UAE media and its interaction with the issues of its Arab nation" as well as "the means of social communication, its reality and expectations"

The first session of this activity discussed the role national role of the media. It was chaired by Mr. Waleed Al-Marzooqi of Dubai TV. Attended by Mohammed Al-Hammadi, editor in-chief of Al-Ettihad newspaper, talking about the march of the newspaper in supporting the role of the UAE as a soft power at the international power. Then followed by Mr. Sami Al-Reyami, editor in-chief of Al-Emarat Al-Youm talking about the UAE mirror reflecting society and expressing the issues of society. Then Mr. Mahmoud Al-Hashimi, CEO of free Ajman media city speaking about the role of the media city in a distinctive position at the international level. As for Ms. Al-Saad Al-Minhali, editor in chief of the National Geographic Magazine – Arabic, she talked about the successful experience of the magazine in Arabic and its role of spreading scientific knowledge  among the Arab youth. While Mr. Mahmoud Hassounah, editor of Al-Khaleej newspaper, conluded by discussing the of the newspaper in promoting the relations among Arab countries.

The second session centered on the social media between reality and future. The session was chaired by Mr. Abdulla Ali of Dubai TV. In this session. Mr. Salim  Al-Nar, member of the National Council of the Union, talked about the role of the media raising awareness of the distinctive role of the Council. Followed by Safiah Al-Shehhi, a writer and a media person who talked about the probability of the young media person to verify the credibility of the social media news. Then Mr. Munther Al-Mezki of Abu Dhabi media company talked about his experience in using the social media to highlight the humanitarian issues in order to be heard by decision makers. Mr. Philip Reyashi, director of Radio 4, concluded the session by talking about the role of the role of the social media in promoting dialogue on issues on live broadcast.

On the sidelines of the activity, a photographic exhibition of AU Mass Communication and Humanities College students was held. Finally, the Forum honored the guest participants in addition to media person who were graduated fro AU who succeeded in their jobs. Winners of the photographic exhibition were also honored.
