College Of Law Students Visited the Headquarters of the Securities and Commodities Authority in Dubai

The College of Law at Ajman University, organized an educational visit for the students registered in commercial Transactions 3 Course, this visit was to the Dubai Securities & Commodities Authority (ESCA) in Dubai accompanied by Dr. Susan Hassan. 

Mr. Ali Abdulla Al Abdooli, Head of Awareness and Education Department welcomed the students, and H.E. Mr. Khalid Mahmoud Mohammed Director of the Department of Legal Affairs who praised Ajman University as a leading academic institution that contributes to the sustainable development of UAE’s society.

The students then moved to the meeting room accompanied by Mr. Khalid Mahmoud Mohammed, where he presented an overview of the objectives and powers of the commission and how it is managed and its oversight role to establish and manage public shareholding companies, including banks. He also explained the role of the commission in financial markets, securities and commodity licensing, and contract control in the stock market, he also spoke about what happened to the listing of securities, and the need for banks to include their shares in the stock market only if it is 100% owned by the state.

Lastly, he spoke about some illegal practices such as the phantom governor and mentioned many issues the famous case is Ponzi Schee and Bernard Madoff.

In the end, Mr. Khaled Mahmoud Mohammed briefed the Department of Legal Affairs and answered all the questions addressed to him by the students regarding the management of banks and how to detect violations committed through their boards of directors.

The tour was concluded with thanks for all employees of the Securities and Commodities Authority at Dubai headquarters on behalf of the College of Law
and Ajman University.

This visit comes within the framework of the events organized by the College, to enrich the students' practical information and to connect the theoretical aspect of the law with the practical aspect.
