AU hosts a researcher in computational chemistry from University of Mauritius

The College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at the Ajman University hosted the researcher Dr. Lydia Rhyman, from the Faculty of Science at the University of Mauritius to discuss the potential aspects of cooperation between the two colleges, especially in the fields of scientific research related to advanced pharmaceutical research.

Dr. Rhyman presented an overview of the current research activities at the chemistry department, University of Mauritius, especially those related to computational chemistry, which uses computer simulation to help solve chemical problems and to determine the expected therapeutic effects of drugs and chemicals, particularly those that can be used for diabetes and cancer.

A number of joint research projects were discussed to be carried out at the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at Ajman University to validate the results of theoretical research studies conducted at the University of Mauritius using computational chemistry. Dr. Rhyman also invited faculty from the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences to present their research work at the International Conference on Pure and Applied Chemistry (ICPAC 2018) that is going to be held in July of this year.
