Earth Hour Celebrates Energy Conservation

Ajman University in collaboration with Ajman Saray Hotel participated in a global initiative of commemorating Earth Hour. Together, students and staff members lit up the candles and turned the lights off to conserve energy. Wasting energy is common practice and one small initiative can conserve energy and regular practice can save up for generations to come. AU raises awareness about such initiatives that affect the community.
Ajman University also participated in the celebration of Earth Hour organized by the Federal Authority for Electricity and Water FEWA. Dr. Riyad al-Dabbagh, AU faculty member represented the University and presented a lecture on Earth Hour and its implications. He explained about the its beginnings that were based in the Australian city of Sydney in 2007, where the idea began modestly by the restaurants, coffee shops, housing and some buildings using candles for lighting. After the success of the operation in Sydney 400 Cities around the world joined Earth Hour in 2008 and in 2009 and Dubai was the first Arab city to participate in Earth Hour. So, the Earth Hour is one of the largest popular environmental movements, which aims to unify the world's efforts on climate change and to build a future live human harmony with nature.
