AU delegation visits Ministry of Education

A delegation representing Ajman University visited the Ministry of Education. It comprised of Prof Cheikh Ould Hamood, Dean, College of Education and Basic Science;  Dr. Atef Abd Elkadir, Head of Department of Mathematics and Science; Dr. Sami Al Qatawneh, Head of Department of Educational Sciences.

They were warmly received by the hosts at the Ministry of Education; Engr. Hussein Al Hammadi, Minister ; Dr. Hamad Aly Ahyaei , Assistant Undersecretary – Curricula and Evaluation Sector; Ms. Iman Al Naout, Book Assessment Department.

Dr. Alyahyaei, Welcomed the AU delegates and commended their initiatives to ensure a standardized system of education. He stressed the importance of these meetings to bridge gaps and ensure a smooth flow of communication between the institutions and the regulatory bodies. He also highlighted major issues school graduates encounter when enrolling in Universities and they discussed ways to combatting the hindrances. He also outlined the Ministry’s curricula and approaches to keep school and universities Programs in synch.

Prof. Hamood elaborated that the University seeks to modernize its programs in accordance with MOE’s  strategic plans. He appreciated the access to MOE’s strategic plans and educational models in particular the Emirati School Initiative. He pointed out that the College of Education is exerting all its efforts to catch up with 21st centuries teaching methodologies and the advanced techniques required to cater to the evolving systems of education and students broadening mindsets.

He reiterated AU’s expertise in training qualified educators and developing relevant curricula to keep abreast of the new trends.

The two entities discussed avenues of mutual cooperation which included coordination between AU and MoE on issues like CoE committees and AU’s access to MoE’s resources. They also outlined the need for analyzing market needs and introducing new programs based on those latest trends and research results.
