Ajman University Inducts Freshmen to AU Experience

Ajman University extended its warmest welcome to the freshmen enrolled for the academic year 2017-2018. In its true Ajman University style new students were welcomed to the beginning of their higher educational tenure at an orientation day that ended on a ceremonious note at the convocation ceremony held at Sheikh Zayed Centre for Conferences and Exhibition.

Dr. Karim Seghir, Chancellor Ajman University congratulated and welcomed the congregation of Deans, Faculty, Staff, freshmen students and their parents. He pointed out that “we will plant a seed, a seed that will inspire you to move forward in life with enthusiastic hearts, well-rounded minds, and a deep sense of responsibility towards society. I strongly encourage you to embrace every aspect of your education here – from the classroom to co-curricular experiences, but also through engagement with the greater community. He further added “the core AU values of Excellence, Integrity, inclusiveness, social responsibility and innovation transcend the campus. What the students will learn and gain here they will utilize it to serve the Emirates of Ajman, the United Arab Emirates, Middle East and the World at large”

Dr. Khalid Al Saleh, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, AU seconded the Chancellors warm welcome and pledged “to make the environment at AU conducive to Innovation and growth” he explained that the goal of the orientation week is to acquaint the students to the campus life, facilities, faculty members and peers. He was referring to the weeklong activities planned by AU for the freshmen students.

The orientation week includes, introductory lectures, student club activities, sports team, dinners and other team building activities. Before the convocation ceremony, the students toured their respective colleges and met with the Deans, Head of Department and Faculty members in an informal meeting. They also officially toured the campus and the array of student facilities the campus has to ensure the students enjoy a comprehensive and fun lifestyle on campus. some of the interesting stops on the tour were the fully equipped sports complex, which houses the semi- Olympic size swimming pool, full-fledged separate gym for male and female students; the state of the art industry standard Audio Video Studio, world class female dormitory which is nothing short of a 5 star standard, amongst others.

Ajman University is home to numerous nationalities of students who feel at home in an environment of innovation and knowledge. It strives to ensure a balance between academia and practical that the students will reap the benefit off when they graduate.

Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Nahla Al Qasimi, encouraged the students to attend the activities during the orientation week that are all tailored to cater to the multitude of students and their preferences.

Respective Colleges are holding sessions on the sidelines of the orientation wherein the students are briefed about the college policies and infrastructure. Therein they are introduced to their academic advisors who will guide them throughout their academic tenure at the University; they will ensure the registration of the courses is a smooth process for the students.
