His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the UAE Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman, despatched a delegation from Ajman University of Science and Technology (AUST) to convey His Highness’s greetings and heartfelt acknowledgments to H.H. Dr Rawiya Bint Saud Al Busaeediyah, Oman’s Minister of Higher Education, for her ministry’s unfailing support to the university throughout its 25 years of development and success.
The delegation, headed by Mr Osama Salman, the University Vice President and CEO, relayed H.H. Ajman Ruler’s satisfaction with the level of cooperation between the UAE, under the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and Oman under the noble leadership of His Highness Sultan Qaboos Al Said. In his message to the Omani Minister, H.H. Sheikh Al Nuaimi stressed that Omani students should feel at home in Ajman, and commended the Oman Cultural Office in the UAE for its earnest follow-up of Omani students’ academic and personal affairs.
The delegation also presented the significant events and achievements that marked AUST’s 25 years and allowed it to become a beacon of knowledge in the region, benefiting 10300 students in two campuses, Ajman and Fujairah, and boasting over 26200 graduates in various fields, ranging from education and sociology to dentistry, engineering and pharmacy. The delegation pointed out that behind this success story lays a vision that appreciates the complementarity of academic knowledge and professional skills acquisition and its role in training knowledgeable and skilled citizens capable of meeting the needs of the labour market in the GCC states.
A major event was the visit of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos in 1989 to the then Ajman University College of Science and Technology.
Till now some 9135 Omani young men and women graduated from Ajman and some 250 students are following their studies in different academic programs offered by the Ajman University of Science and Technology
Mr Salman further acknowledged the valuable support and confidence of the Oman Ministry of Higher Education to AUST, as it has trusted the university with ever increasing numbers of Omani students that have been graduating from the university with accredited degrees qualifying them to participate in the unprecedented economic boom rightly witnessed by Oman.
On her part, the Omani Minister asked the delegation to convey her greetings and respect to His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashed Al Nuaimi for the wise initiative of sending this letter and for the special care enjoyed by Omani students.
The meeting was also attended by a number of senior officials from the Omani ministry of higher education, namely Dr Abdullah Bin Mohammed Al Sarmi, Undersecretary, H.E. Dr Ali Bemani, Vice-Chancellor of Sultan Qaboos University, Mrs Aliya Bint Badr Al Busaeedi, Director of External Affairs, and Mr Nadir Bin Fakeer Al Baloshi, from the External Affairs Department.
AUST delegation consisted of Mr Osama Salman, the University Vice President, Dr Ahmed Ankit, Assistant to the University President for External Relations and Mr Abdullah Salman, Assistant to the University Vice President and Dr Abdulhaq Basheer Al Nuaimi, Community Service Director.
It is worth noting that Ajman University of Science and Technology was established in 1988. With more than 10300 enrolled students and 26000 graduates from 44 accredited academic programs.
