E. Al Hosani, H. Almaamari, M. Omar, S. Ismail, Audience Engagement with Media Content and Advertisement: A study from the Perspective of UAE Media Practitioners, Arabian Journal of Media and Communication, Vol: 36, pp.340 - 371, Dec 2023
The study aimed to find out the perception of media practitioners in UAE about audience measurement institutions. Methods: The study adopted a quantitative approach and a survey questionnaire was designed. The study sample consisted of media practitioners working at different media and advertising agencies in UAE. The data collected was analysed using descriptive statistical analysis and Statistical Package of Social Sciences SPSS version 23.0 was used to perform Cronbach alpha test to check the reliability of the questionnaire and ANOVA test to find out the relationship association between media institutions and audience measuring institutions. Results: The study findings revealed that advertising and other media specialist had little or no knowledge about data providing agencies and those who did know had reliability, trust and transparency issues with audience rating agencies. Conclusions: The study concluded that confidence and trust it seems are the missing links between media institutions and agencies of audience and marketing research. Without creating such a link, through unifying standards in areas that set mutual understanding to how to collect data, and within a specific book of procedures, it would be difficult to move forward in this issue.
