The Athletics Unit at Ajman University's Office of Student Life organized a virtual awareness workshop for members of the Ajman Youth Council titled "Golden Tips" for Office Employees.
Presented by Manal Al Katalbi, Sports Activities Supervisor at Ajman University, the workshop provided valuable insights aimed at improving health and well-being in daily office routines. It emphasized the importance of maintaining physical fitness at work, offering guidance on proper posture, deep breathing techniques, and simple desk exercises. Practical demonstrations included relaxation, stretching, and muscle-strengthening exercises that employees can easily perform in their offices without special equipment.
Additionally, the workshop introduced exercises designed to enhance physical fitness and reduce stress, specifically tailored for office settings. Participants learned about the 40-15-5 rule, which encourages 40 minutes of sitting, 15 minutes of standing, and 5 minutes of movement—an effective strategy for boosting circulation and reducing both physical and mental stress. The session also covered office-friendly resistance exercises targeting the arms, chest, and shoulders to promote overall physical resilience. Additional exercises, recommended for 10 to 15 repetitions, were demonstrated to further support physical fitness and well-being.
The workshop also highlighted the significance of deep breathing, which improves oxygen flow to the lungs, enhances circulation, and helps reduce the risk of respiratory infections such as pneumonia.
The session concluded with an interactive Q&A segment, allowing participants to gain a deeper understanding of the exercises and how to integrate them into their daily routines for better physical health.
The Athletics Unit is committed to supporting the University’s efforts in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3, which focuses on promoting good health and well-being. This is achieved by raising awareness among various community groups about the importance of resuming sports activities in a healthy and safe manner and enhancing youth well-being.
