In the last century notable contributions have been made to both the Theory and Applications of the Fractional Calculus (FC). Three international conference on “Fractional Calculus” were held during the period 1950-2000:
- June 1974: was held at the University of New Haven, Boston, USA.
- August 1984: was held at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, U. K.
- May 1989: was held at the University of Nihon, Japan.
In this speech, I will mention, to the best of my knowledge, the best mathematicians in the world who have worked in this field, and I will particularly focus on the role of Arab scholars.
