Ajman University’s College of Engineering and Information Technology recently launched the AjMan University SmartwarE HACKathon 2023 (AMUSE-HACK '23) in collaboration with the Office of Student Life. The first edition of AMUSE-HACK was held on February 16 and 17, 2023 at the Sheikh Zayed Hall, Ajman University and was open to all AU students.
The advent of new advanced technologies like blockchain, microservices, IoT, metaverse, and AI have revolutionized entire industries. The objective of the hackathon is to encourage students to build on conceptual and technical skills in these areas for advanced software and application development. It also encourages students to propose unique ideas and develop solutions that will influence individuals and communities in the future.
A total of 48 students, including both male and female students from different majors such as IT Networking and Security, Computer Engineering, IS E-Business Management, IS Project Management and Data Analytics participated in the hackathon. The teams proposed new and innovative software applications and solutions across a variety of tracks including e-Government, e-Health, Auto Tech, e-education, and Gamification.
The Department of Digital Ajman and Thinglogix were sponsors of the event. The Department of Digital Ajman awarded 3000AED and certificates to the first-place winners, while Thinglogix provided vouchers to all the winners.
First Place in the hackathon went to the team comprising Sondos Mahmoud, Ragad Moustafa and Sana Ali. Second place in the Hackathon was won by the team comprising Kailasnath Pillai, Fawwaz Khan and Safwan Mohiuddin, while Amro Mahdi, Mohammad Alhomsi and Mohammed Muntaser Warrad were the third place winners at the hackathon.
In addition, there were three other awards worth 1000AED each: Best User Interface – Amna Farhath, Reem Ibrahim and Nadheera Nisha; Best Social Impact – Muhammad Yousuf, Mouayad Al Daghestani and Abdullah Zuhair; and last but not the least, Best Commercial Value – Abdulrahman Ali Dawood, Mohammed Alhamarna and Omar Issam Makhlouf.
