Department of Architecture at the College of Engineering organized an educational trip for its students to the Free Zone Project in Dubai called Dubai South. The group of students listened to an introductory lecture about the ongoing projects overseen by the Commission, it includes the Jebel Ali Airport, Expo 2020 city, avaiation city and housing projects for workers. The projects utilized higher design excellence for their architectural levels, the total area covered by them is 145 square kilometers.
Mr. Ahmed Ansari, Chief Operating Officer, Dubai South briefed the students about the developments achieved so far and the plans. They also honored Sheikha Dr. Nahla Al Qassimi, Faculty member at the College of Engineering; she also coordinated this visit to ensure students can witness firsthand the future being constructed. These visits are catalyst that enable students to link the concepts and theory to practices in the current labor market. The students had a lot of queries and questions, which they put forth to the authorities at Dubai South.
