Ajman University of Science and Technology was represented at an international conference on Engineering, Technology and Innovations organized by The International Institute of Engineers and Researchers (IIER) The 27th International Academic Conference on Engineering, Technology and Innovations (IACETI) was held in Zurich, Switzerland and invited over 350 delegates from twenty countries, including USA, Canada, Australia, Japan, and European countries. 74 scientific research papers and 27 posters were presented during the conference.
Engr. Tazeen Sharif, Lecturer - College of Engineering at AUST and IEEE UAE Ambassador, presented her research titled, Empowering Challenged Children through Education with Assistive Technology. The research is based on developing assistive technology tools for the hearing-impaired individuals which can enable them to join mainstream education and work. It further discusses the impact of making these tools available for vocational training of special children, thus building their confidence, polishing talents and encouraging them to lead a dignified life.
The research was well appreciated by all participants and judges and Engr. Tazeen Sharif received global recognition for such an initiative. She was honored with the Excellent Paper Award and a Medal of Recognition.
During the trip, Engr. Tazeen Sharif was invited as guest of honor by the IEEE Switzerland Women in Engineering Chairperson, Dr. Mary Alexender Paul, for delivering a motivational speech addressing the under-graduate students of engineering at University of Lausanne. Her presentation and speech were highly welcomed by the audience and she was bestowed upon with the title of an ‘Inspirational Leader’.
Engr. Tazeen Sharif has expressed sincere gratitude to Prof. Fahar Hayati, Dean, College of Engineering and the AUST higher management for facilitating the trip and the encouraging engagement in research work.
