Ahmed Godat obtained his MSc in Structural Engineering from Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden and his PhD from the University of Sherbrooke in Canada. His doctoral dissertation focused on the numerical modeling of externally shear-strengthened reinforced concrete beams using fiber-reinforced polymers (FRP). In 2010, he joined the Development and Research in Structures and Rehabilitation (DRSR) group at the École de technologie supérieure in Canada. He also served as a part-time lecturer at Concordia University, where he taught Structural Analysis I and Structural Analysis II courses. Dr. Godat's research interests include finite element simulation of structures and the application of fiber-reinforced polymers (FRPs) in civil engineering. He has published over 65 technical papers in these fields. He was awarded the Mirko Ros Medal for the best paper at the CICE2008 conference in Zurich, Switzerland. Most recently, Dr. Godat received the Excellent Presentation Prize at the 3rd International Civil Engineering and Architecture Conference in Kyoto, Japan (17–20 March 2023).
