In line with our Climate and Sustainability Strategy 2022-2030, the upcoming COP28 and the recent announcement of the Year of Sustainability in the UAE, Ajman University was pleased to be a proud supporting partner of the World Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) Summit in Dubai.
Ajman University was the only higher education institution to be a supporting partner of this summit, held from February 21-22, 2023. The Summit was organized by Gulf Xellence.
Featuring over 30 speakers and panelists, the World ESG Summit highlighted key topics in support of the road to Net Zero such as green economy, sustainable finance, renewable energy, green innovation trends, climate change, ESG reporting and its applicability in industries and academia, sustainable supply chains, circular economy and more.
Ms. Maya Haddad, Manager of Ajman University’s Office of Sustainability was one of the speakers at the Summit. Her session was titled ‘Impact of ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) standards on the operations of higher education sector in the United Arab Emirates.’ During the presentation, Ajman University was discussed as a case study.
“The session was aimed at promoting the role of Ajman University as a leading academic institution for sustainability and youth empowerment in climate action,” said Ms. Maya.
Four students from AU also participated as attendees at the event.
The first event of its kind in the region, the three-day summit brought together investors, stakeholders, government officials, customers, consultants and sustainability enthusiasts from all over the globe.
A special discounted rate was offered to AU Community members to attend the Summit.
