The Unit of Athletics Celebrates International Day of University Sport

The Unit of Athletics celebrated the International Day of University Sport under the supervision of Captain Abdulhamid Bakour and Manal Al Katalbi on September 20. This annual event aims to increase participation in various sports, highlighting the significance of university sports in helping young people channel their energy and make productive use of their free time through activities that promote physical development. Such engagement contributes to the growth of a strong generation capable of effectively managing their time and lives.

The activities for female students kicked off with an impressive taekwondo performance by athlete Zainab Ahmed and fitness coach Afkar. This performance served as an inspiring motivator for all students to engage in sports and appreciate the art of martial arts. Following the performance, participants enjoyed a warm-up session and a variety of competitions, including relay races, tug-of-war, and running races, along with other fun sports activities.

For male students, the event began with a warm-up session, followed by a diverse range of competitions, including tug-of-war and arm wrestling, alongside other enjoyable sports activities.

This event highlights the Unit of Athletics' unwavering commitment to promoting a sports culture among students. By organizing such activities, the unit provides students with opportunities to develop their physical and social skills, forge new friendships, and enhance team spirit. These activities also play a vital role in improving overall health and psychological well-being, making them an essential part of university life.
