The Department of Finance at the College of Business Administration (CBA) hosted a session titled, ‘Your Gateway to the Exclusive World of Finance.’ The session was attended by senior high school students from the School of Modern Skills Dubai and Sharjah Indian School.
The session began with Dr. Rajesh Mohnot, Head of Finance Department, highlighting the milestone achievements of College of Business Administration at Ajman University. Guest students were briefed about four undergraduate programs of College of Business Administration. Dr. Rajesh also shared recent breakthroughs in the world of finance and discussed the rising popularity of the Finance discipline in modern job markets. He noted that the finance domain has expanded its wings into risk management, sustainable investing, insurance and real estate sectors, microfinance, forecasting dynamics, and banking. This was followed by the students sharing their experiences at the college and Ajman University.
The session was coordinated by Mr. Mohammad Nizarudeen, AU Student Recruitment and Admissions Officer, Ms. Kiran Zafar, Assistant Instructor, Ms. Noof Al Madhani, Assistant Instructor, and senior Finance Students - Dani George, Riad Bassam and Mohammed Adnan.
Dani George shared his excitement about guiding the audience through his journey at AU, saying, ‘Reflecting on my transition from high school to university as a senior student, I shared my experience studying finance at AU and why I chose this path. I emphasized the importance of getting involved in clubs, such as the Finance and Accounting Club (FACT), where I actively participated in events and volunteered’. Riad Bassam then discussed his experiences as a high school graduate and the journey that followed - ‘Introducing high school students to the finance major was an enriching experience. I shared my journey of initially questioning if finance was the right fit for me, only to discover its vast potential and relevance in today's world.”
“Witnessing their curiosity as they explored the intricacies of finance was truly rewarding. It was fulfilling to inspire potential future finance experts and share my passion for the field”. During the conversation with the students, Mohammed Adnan reflected on the beginning of his journey as a finance student and highlighted the various initiatives by the finance department that contributed to refining his skills. He expressed, “it was a wonderful opportunity to connect and convey my enthusiasm for finance.” Following the discussions, a quiz assessed the audience's understanding of the finance industry and stimulated engagement and discussion. The session concluded with a Q&A segment where attendees asked about certifications, the relevance of finance today, and career prospects in the field.
