The Unit of Athletics at Ajman University's Office of Student Life organized a virtual awareness workshop aimed at encouraging young youth to re-engage in sports activities during the summer months. Held in collaboration with the Ajman Youth Council, the workshop focused on promoting safe and healthy participation in sports following an extended period of rest.
The workshop, led by Manal Alkatalbi, Sports Activities Supervisor at Ajman University, covered increasing physical activity levels, proper hydration, and a balanced diet for athletic performance. Participants also learned about psychological challenges after a break and received tips on maintaining motivation and concentration.
Ms. Asmaa Al Shamsi, Manager of Athletics at Ajman University, underscored the workshop's significance in promoting the health and well-being of youth. She emphasized that beyond individual support, the workshop aligned with the university's commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3, which aims to improve health and well-being.
One of the distinguishing features of the workshop was its discussion on effective strategies to overcome the challenges faced by young athletes during summer sports activities. The session concluded with an engaging question-and-answer segment, facilitating the exchange of opinions and experiences among participants and enhancing their understanding of topics related to summer sports participation for improved physical fitness and overall health.
Furthermore, participants praised the university's efforts in organizing this workshop and emphasized the importance of such initiatives in raising awareness about the importance of sports and motivating young people to take steps towards a healthy and active lifestyle.
