Ajman University's Department of Psychology organized a lecture titled "The Harmful Effects of Drugs and Methods of Prevention," delivered by Lieutenant Colonel Abdel Nasser Khalil Al-Shirawi from the Ministry of Interior. Professors and students, especially those specializing in Social Psychology, attended the event, which aimed to increase awareness of drug-related issues.
The lecture covered a range of topics, including defining drugs and their types, associated risks, reasons for drug use, and UAE laws on handling users and traffickers. Lieutenant Colonel Abdel Nasser presented real-life examples of drug-related harm and modern trafficking methods.
The lecturer stressed the importance of families monitoring changes in their children's behavior for signs of vulnerability to drug dangers. Indicators include notable changes in appearance, drug paraphernalia in personal spaces, and an unexplained increase in financial needs, among other noticeable signs of potential exposure to this harmful phenomenon.
Dr. Ahmed Al-Zoubi from the Department of Psychology introduced the lecturer and welcomed him at the beginning of the lecture. Additionally, by Prof. Marei Ahmed, also from the Department of Psychology, presented a certificate of appreciation to the lecturer on behalf of Dr. Rasha Abdulrahman, Head of the Department.
