Dr. Raghad Mourad, a distinguished lecturer at the College of Architecture, Art, and Design at Ajman University, has been recognized as one of the Global Ambassadors of Sustainability by the Global Ambassadors of Sustainability (GAoS).This esteemed network, registered as an international non-profit think tank in Canada, is dedicated to promoting sustainability through training programs and collaborative knowledge-sharing sessions with various institutions.
Expressing her enthusiasm about this achievement, Dr. Raghad emphasized that being part of the GAoS network provides her with a unique platform to exchange knowledge and experiences with experts and researchers in the field of sustainability, thereby enhancing her ability to influence global environmental policies and practices.
She noted that Ajman University has been a key supporter throughout her academic journey, offering a stimulating educational environment that fosters research and innovation in sustainability, which helped her achieve this significant accomplishment. Dr. Raghad stated, "My passion for studying sustainability stems from a deep concern for the environment and a strong desire to address climate change and the challenges associated with biodiversity." She explained that daily human practices that deplete resources without considering the needs of future generations have been a major driving force behind her commitment to protecting nature.
With a passion for modern technologies and sustainable practices, Dr. Raghad indicated that her research journey has inspired her to explore ways to integrate sustainability into daily life. This inspiration guided her decision to pursue a PhD in Sustainability, during which she analyzed sustainability assessment methods used to evaluate buildings. Her recent research papers, which have attracted hundreds of reads, focus on sustainability in buildings. In these studies, she assesses sustainability potential of existing structures through the application of simulation techniques and compares well-known sustainability assessment methods in architectural projects. Dr. Raghad also highlighted the importance of collaboration between academic and industrial institutions in achieving sustainability goals, stressing the need for educational programs that enhance environmental awareness among students. By broadening knowledge and skills in this field, she hopes to make a positive impact on future generations, contributing to the creation of a more sustainable environment for all.
