Ajman University Women Empowerment Council (AUWEC) was set up to promote the role of AU women across several different fields, enhance their participation in research, and celebrate their success and achievements.
AUWEC marked the first anniversary of its operations on March 17, 2023. To celebrate the occasion, an event was held at the Sheikh Zayed Center for Conferences and Exhibitions on the AU campus.
The event was attended by Chancellor Dr. Karim Seghir; Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs, Professor Khaled Assaleh; Chairperson of Emirates Business Women Council, Eng. Farida Alawadi; and Deans of the colleges’ along with Dr. Nahla Al Qasimi, Dean of Student Services and Chairperson of AUWEC.
During the event, various achievements of AUWEC during its first year of operation were highlighted which included:
Webinars and workshops - AUWEC organized a series of insightful webinars and workshops offering intellectual tools to help women professionals overcome the challenges of academic and professional life, and raise awareness of women’s capabilities, rights, and responsibilities.
Informal gatherings – Several informal gatherings were organized by AUWEC to provide intellectual stimulation as well as relaxation, with the aim of helping AU women to recharge their energies for their hectic professional lives.
Collaboration with off-campus community – AUWEC facilitated events and participation in various social initiatives for AU women, to help them enhance their social networks and make their impact felt in the wider social community.
International Forum: AUWEC in collaboration with the Deanship of Student Services organized the 2nd International Forum on Education and Mental Health IFEMH 2023 with the theme "Women in Research" 23-24 February 2023. The forum served as a platform for faculty, researchers, and others involved in academia and industry to present their views, share their experiences in research and address several issues confronting women and women empowerment.
