The College of Dentistry at Ajman University (AU) held a seminar titled “Clear Aligners” with the aim of spreading awareness about recent advanced techniques in dentistry related to clear aligners.
Dr. Binu Abraham, who holds a postgraduate diploma in orthodontics from New York University, delivered a lecture to 65 students about the significance of clear aligners by illustrating the wide range of choices available when creating and providing aligners to patients.
Through the introduction of key elements in the manufacture and application of aligners, such as cost and staging parameters for these aligners, the seminar emphasized the advantages and disadvantages of various aligner staging platforms.
Additionally, the seminar highlighted the interaction of clear aligners with other dental specialties such as restorative dentistry and implantology.
Dr. Binu Abraham earned his BDS degree from the College of Dentistry Manipal, Mangalore University in the year 1995. After his postgraduation, he worked at New York University as a faculty in the Department of Orthodontics, as a senior lecturer in CODS, Manipal and also as a part-time faculty at AU in the year 2000.
Asked about the seminar, Aseel Naji, an intern in dental surgery at AU, said: "This is without a doubt one of the most beneficial seminars that I have attended; it enhanced my understanding of clear aligners. I learned a lot about the cases, the diagnosis process, and the fabrication”.
"This seminar gave me the chance to explore orthodontic treatment plans, especially in the field of pediatrics, and the examples shown of the many cases were definitely very useful," said Dr. Nouf, a second-year student in the Master of Science in Pediatric Dentistry program.
