A group of enterprising students from Ajman University College of Medicine (AUCOM) won the first place at the 6th Annual Student Research Competition (2023 AUSERC) held at the Dubai-based American University in the Emirates (AUE).
Their winning research paper on the theme of “Hand Hygiene – Knowledge, Attitudes and Practices (KAP) among University Students in the UAE Amid and Post Covid-19” contributed significantly to the understanding of hygiene practices during the pandemic and beyond.
AUESRC is an annual research competition held at the AUE campus in Dubai to promote scientific research among undergraduate and graduate students. This year it was held on September 11th and 12th, where the AUCOM team emerged as the 1st place winner in the ‘Medical Disciplines Projects’ category.
The winning students Kowthar Forsat, Lujain Albozeyah, and Yusor Al-Nuaimy were ably supervised by faculty Dr. Yehia Mohamed; Dr. Ibrahim Bani; Dr. Gabriel Andrade and Prof. Debadatta Panigrahi.
Kudos to the AUCOM team for winning a tough competition where 29 other teams from various universities in the UAE and the Arab region competed to present their impressive research projects. It shows that AU students are among the best in research excellence as well as other academic areas.
Thanks are due to Ajman University Deanship of Research and Graduate Studies (DRGS) for funding the project.
