Ajman, UAE – Ajman University is proud to announce its participation in the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP28) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, which took place from November 30 to December 12, 2023, at Expo City in Dubai. This global event brought together leaders, innovators, and activists from around the world to address the critical issue of climate change and to develop sustainable solutions for the future.
The University was actively involved in a series of workshops and events, including the ReWired Summit, which focused on innovative approaches to addressing climate challenges through technology and education. Ajman University also participated in the Green Skills Job Fair for Youth, demonstrating its commitment to empowering the next generation with the skills needed for a sustainable future. Additionally, the University contributed to sessions on Water Resilience, exploring the vital importance of water management in the context of climate change; Islamic Finance for Climate and Nature, discussing the role of financial systems in supporting environmental sustainability; and the Circular Economy, highlighting the need for sustainable industrial and economic practices.
Moreover, Ajman University students made a noteworthy contribution at the “Youth Debates Tournament,” organized by the Federal Youth Foundation. This event aimed at enhancing youth knowledge and perspectives on climate change. Students skillfully led the discussion, emphasizing the need for corporate sustainability, and provided concrete examples of companies successfully balancing profitability with social responsibility and environmental protection. This participation underscored the students' understanding of the role of business in environmental sustainability.
A highlight of Ajman University’s participation was its collaboration with the University of Oxford in the Nature Positive Universities event. This joint initiative showcased the commitment of both institutions to integrating biodiversity conservation and sustainable practices into their campus operations and academic programs.
