Ajman University Hosts Professor Michael to Enhance Education Quality

The College of Dentistry at Ajman University hosted Prof. Michael George Botelho, Clinical Professor in Prosthodontics at the University of Hong Kong. During his visit, Prof. Botelho met with Prof. Khaled Assaleh, Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs; Prof. Kamran Arshad, Dean of Graduate Studies and Research; and Dr. Salem Abu Fanas, Dean of the College of Dentistry, to discuss possible collaboration with the University of Hong Kong and to expand the academic opportunities available to students and enhance their educational journey.

In collaboration with the Committee on Innovation and Compassion in Teaching and Learning, Prof. Botelho conducted a seminar on educational research and a workshop on team-based learning. These workshops serves as a platform to develop  team-based learning methodologies across various academic programs at the College of Dentistry, including research projects in Prosthodontics. Additionally, they aim to enhance interaction and collaboration between students and faculty members in the field of research by fostering teamwork skills.

In this context, Dr. Abu Fanas stated, " Exchanging experiences and strengthening partnerships between universities and various educational institutions contributes to the development of education and students' skills. The educational world is evolving rapidly, and it is important for us to adopt the latest educational methods and technologies and enable faculty member to benefit from them to keep the students up to date with the   most recent advancements in their fields, enhancing their learning experience to excel in their academic and professional journeys in the future."

Prof. Botelho is known for his outstanding achievements, having published more than 122 research papers in prestigious scientific journals. Currently, he’s the President-Elect of the Educational Research Group at the International Association for Dental Research. Moreover, he has received numerous grants and awards both at the local and international levels in recognition of his excellence in teaching.
