Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid al Nuaimi, Member of the UAE Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman, Ajman University is hosting the International Conference on Fractional Differentiation and its Applications (ICFDA) from March 14-16, 2023. The conference is organized by the College of Humanities and Sciences in cooperation with Nonlinear Dynamic Research Centre and chaired by the Dean of the College of Humanities and Sciences Professor Shaher Momani.
ICFDA’23 is sponsored by IEEE, the world’s largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity.
A specialized conference on fractional-order calculus and its applications, ICFDA'23 is important as it seeks to find new perspectives on fractional calculus, a topic that forms the basis of a variety of applications and systems in science, engineering, mathematics, and technology.
The Conference features keynote speakers who are prominent experts in the field including Prof. Samir Hadid from the College of Humanities and Sciences at Ajman University, Prof. Praveen Agarwal, Anand International College of Engineering, India; Prof. Virginia Kiryakova, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Bulgaria; Prof. Dumitru Baleanu, Cankaya University, Turkey; Prof. Michele Caputo, Texas A&M University, USA; Dr. Roberto Garrappa, University of Bari, Italy; and Dr. Yangquan Chen, University of California Merced, USA.
Associate Professor Dr. Arran Fernandez, the youngest Senior Wrangler, is also among the keynote speakers. Prof. Fernandez got his GCSE at age 5 and studied at Cambridge University when he was 15. Dr. Fernandez has joined the Eastern Mediterranean University where he became an associate Professor in 2022.
Welcoming the keynote speakers, academics, researchers and participants, Chancellor of Ajman University, Dr. Karim Seghir, said, “I am delighted to welcome top scientists and researchers from across the world to ICFDA 2023, a seminal conference that will help generate new ideas and increase collaboration among universities globally, working in this rare but impactful discipline."
Prof. Shaher Momani, Dean of the College of Humanities and Sciences and Head of Nonlinear Dynamics Research Center (NDRC), Ajman University will be among the speakers at the Conference.
With 30 scientific sessions and 160 lectures presented by top researchers and scientists specialized in the subject, ICFDA’23 will be an avenue to explore new ideas on the topic and forge closer collaboration among top universities and researchers globally.
Fractional-order calculus has assumed heightened importance in recent years, emerging as a tool to describe systems in various fields in mathematics, biology, chemistry, medicine, mechanics, electricity, control theory, economics, and signal and image processing.
With its impressive growth in research output and impact, Ajman University is the ideal venue for ICFDA’23. AU’s Scopus-indexed research publications have increased by 28 times while citations have grown four-fold between 2017-22, testifying to AU’s growing importance as a research institution.
