The Office of Sustainability at Ajman University organized “COP28 Roadshow” under the slogan: "Greening Our Youth, Our Campus, and Our Skills Towards a More Sustainable Future,". This event was organized in alignment with the University’s active involvement in the Universities Climate Network (UCN), which aims to engage youth and higher education institutions to address climate-related issues and prepare for the upcoming COP28 conference.
The roadshow featured a variety of interactive activities designed to educate the AU community about different environmental issues, including the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. The roadshow involved implementing a range of research and innovation activities to find solutions to climate challenges, in addition to workshops, and other engaging activities.
The campaign also featured the "Climate Call Hackathon," an event organized in collaboration with the UAE Independent Climate Change Accelerators (UICCA) which aimed to encourage students to find innovative solutions for climate challenges, such as water scarcity, food security, and clean energy. Moreover, it served as an inspiring platform to promoting discussions on climate action, enabling participants to exchange their innovative ideas and transform them into pioneering solutions to tackle climate challenges ahead of the upcoming COP28 conference.
The campaign also included a distinctive workshop titled "Climate Fresk," Workshop conducted by the social enterprise "Goumbook.". The workshop highlighted the topics that will be covered at the COP28 conference, and emphasized the role of the community in dealing with these issues.
Ajman University continues to support the UAE preparations to host the upcoming COP28 conference aiming to combat climate change and preserve the environment by leading and participating in initiatives and projects related to the conference to achieve the overall sustainable climate goals.
