Ajman University Celebrates the UAE’s 52nd Union Day

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman, Ajman University celebrated the 52nd Union Day on campus at Sheikh Zayed Center. This event was organized by the Deanship of Student Services and attended by Dr. Karim Seghir, Chancellor of AU, Cabinet members, faculty, staff, and students.

The ceremony was attended by the Ajman Police General Command, Sharjah Museums Authority, Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space sciences & Technology, Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization, Holy Qur’an Complex in Sharjah, Emirates Astronomy Society, Sharjah Institute for Heritage, Manbat Store, Al Mahatta Museum, Sharjah Heritage Institute, Emirates Philatelic Association and Mr. Obaid Khalaf Al-Mukhmari.

The celebration featured a diverse range of activities, including the military band playing the national anthem, a poem recitation by Saeed bin Ghalita, folk music, and the traditional Yola dance. Additionally, the Student Music Club delivered a unique and patriotic singing performance.

The Emirati Cultural Club constructed a replica of an Emirati village to depict life in the UAE during historical periods. An art exhibition was also organized, showcasing artworks by various visual artists that mirrored the values and accomplishments of the Union's 52-year journey. Many colleges and departments participated in the event, with each having booths centered on the theme of sustainability. This focus aligns with the UAE's role as host of the COP28 conference.

Dr. Karim Seghir emphasized the importance of celebrating this national occasion, which serves as a model for unity and national solidarity between the leadership and the people. He pointed out that the Union Day is a testament to the determination, resilience, and wise leadership of the United Arab Emirates, making it an exemplary nation in various fields of development, construction, and digital transformation.

Dr. Seghir explained that over the past 52 years, the UAE has witnessed numerous significant achievements, securing a prominent position regionally and globally in economic, social, cultural, scientific, and creative domains. This has allowed the country to take leading roles effectively in promoting progress and sustainability.
