Ajman University students were winners at IEEE UAE Student Day 2021, a virtual event organized by IEEE, which is one of world’s largest technical professional organizations for the advancement of technology.
IEEE UAE Student Day 2021 was held virtually on November 06, 2021 with the aim of enhancing knowledge, leadership qualities, and a culture of competition among engineering students in the UAE.
A total of 12 universities participated in the event. Students from Ajman University’s Electrical Engineering and Bio-Medical Engineering departments participated in and excelled at the event, which had two categories and multiple tracks.
AU students were awarded the second place in the Senior Design Project (Communications & Electronics track) for their project called Shield, a sexual abuse smart detection system for children. Marwa Alshouli, Somaya Samra, Shamma Hareb and Bashayer Alasfour formed the winning team who worked on the project. The team were ably guided by Prof. Mustahsan Mir and Engr. Wessam Shehieb.
In the other category of Community Service Project, Ajman University students were awarded the first place for their thoughtful project on Mental Health Awareness during COVID-19, a highly relevant topic during the current pandemic. Reem Mazen, Haya Aladhami, Rawan Kima and Rukaia Khaldoon were members of the winning team for this project. They were supervised by Engr. Mohamed Agam.
