In celebration of the International Day of Older Persons, Ajman University's Office of Community Engagement organized a visit to Dubai's Senior Happiness Center in October 2022. The event aimed to promote awareness about the needs and interests of older people and recognize their lifetime achievements among their peers. Twenty AU students volunteered to spend the day with 40 seniors, focusing on their well-being and interests. They organized various activities, including games and musical exercises, followed by a shared lunch, fostering intergenerational connections and teaching the students the values of kindness and compassion.
Dr. Salwa Al Suwaidi, Director and Consultant at the Dubai Seniors Happiness Center, expressed her gratitude to AU students for their visit and connection with the seniors. The center awarded certificates of appreciation to AU students in recognition of their dedication and impact. This initiative aligns with SDG #3, promoting well-being for all, especially older persons, and fostering social connections and empathy. Ajman University's commitment to such initiatives reflects its dedication to community engagement and well-being for its students and alums, cultivating social leaders capable of driving positive change in their communities.
