Ajman University Students are Proud Winners at the Saint Gobain International Architecture Students Contest

Ajman University proudly congratulates its students who won the third place at the UAE edition of the prestigious Saint Gobain International Architecture Students Contest.

The students pursuing the Master in Urban Design program at AU’s College of Architecture, showed grit and enterprise in the face of stiff competition. The contest had participants from MAHE and UAE University, among a host of other global universities.

Another team from Ajman University that participated in the contest also drew praise from the jury for their brilliant efforts.

The students were tasked with creating a plan to revitalize a large area belonging to a defunct factory adjoining the Warsaw Railway Station in Poland. Contestants were required to create a two-fold proposal for a meeting & entertainment centre, and student residences, on a large plot of land measuring 14,500 square meters.

The complexity of the task increased as participants had to follow strict conservation guidelines, while incorporating social activation and residential functions in the overall plan.

The Ajman University teams however proved equal to the task, proposing plans that won accolades from everyone involved.

Organized for the first time in Isover Serbia in 2004, the Saint Gobain Contest has grown into a highly prestigious international architecture competition, encouraging sustainable architecture and design thought among architecture students worldwide. The previous edition of the contest in Paris attracted more than 2,800 students from 38 countries.
