Ajman University (AU) held its “AU Inter-College Sports Tournament Fall 2022” from October 3-13 at the impressive AU Sports Complex. Students from all colleges participated in the tournament which was organized by The Unit of Athletics within the Office of Student Life.
The tournament aims to spread awareness about the importance of sports activities, and to enhance the spirit of competition between the participating teams.
Asma Al Shamsi, Manager of Athletics Unit mentioned that AU’s Unit of Athletics will continue to organize sports tournaments for students in order to improve their health, boost their sporting skills and aid overall personality development.
A total of 402 students participated in the tournament, which was won by students from the College of Engineering and Information Technology lifting the highly coveted Ajman University Cup.
At the end of the sports tournaments, Dr. Karim Seghir, Chancellor of AU in the presence of Dr. Khaled Assaleh, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs; Dr. Nahla Al Qasimi, Dean of Student Services and Dr. Mohamed Helal, Director of Student Life crowned the winning teams by distributing trophies, cups and medals to the winning teams/individuals.
In the women’s chess competition, Wadad Abdulrahman from the College of Engineering and Information Technology won the first place, while Aliya Mohamad from the College of Business Administration came in the second place, and Mukaram Ahmed at the College of Architecture, Art and Design ranked third. At the women’s badminton competition, the College of Medicine team won the First place, the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences team came second, and the College of Architecture, Arts and Design ranked third. As for the women’s basketball competition, the College of Dentistry team won the second place, the College of Engineering and Information Technology team won the third place, and the College of Medicine team ranked third.
As for the volleyball competition for the men's category, the College of Engineering and Information Technology team won the first place, the College of Business Administration team won the second place, and the College of Medicine team won the third place. In the men's basketball competition, the College of Engineering and Information Technology team won the first place, the College of Business Administration team won the second place, and the College of Dentistry team ranked third. As for the men’s futsal competition, the students of the College of Dentistry won the first place, the team of the College of Engineering and Information Technology won the second place, followed by the team of the College of Medicine in the third place.
