Dr. Maher Assad, Associate Professor at Ajman University’s College of Engineering and Information Technology has been nominated to be guest editor of a special issue of the Sensors-MDPI journal. Sensors-MDPI is a reputed peer-reviewed, open access scientific journal, with a high impact factor and is indexed on the prestigious Scopus Index of scientific journals.
Sensors-MDPI is considered an A* journal as per AU’s own ranking/classification of journals.
The special issue will focus on the all-important emerging topic of Human-computer interaction (HCI), which is crucial for user-friendly interactions between human users and computer systems.
Dr. Maher is the guest editor of the special issue along with two other scholars; Dr. Jinchang Ren of the University of Aberdeen, UK and Dr. Pourya Shamsolmouali of East China Normal University, Shanghai, China.
This special issue of MDPI-Sensors assumes greater significance as HCI is an emerging area with ever-growing applications across a number of use cases.
AI-guided intelligent recognition of speech instructions and visual signs has been widely adopted in HCI. In addition to auditory and visual clues, touch, taste and smell are also being explored to provide users a highly immersive experience. How to effectively use these individual sources of information, and also fuse some of them together for different levels of tasks, still requires exploration.
The Sensors-MDPI special issue will provide a forum for colleagues to report the most up-to-date results of developed models, algorithms, approaches and techniques, as well as comprehensive surveys in the field of HCI.
