We are proud to announce that Ajman University has been awarded the Bronze level by Arab University Sports Federation (Arab USF) in its ‘Healthy Sports Campus’ competition.
A new and distinctive initiative launched by Arab USF, Healthy Sports Campus emphasizes the importance of integrating physical health and well-being through sports, in all aspects of a university’s campus, in order to improve the lifestyle of students and the surrounding community.
A total of 23 universities across the UAE and the wider MENA region participated in the competition and were assessed on five key parameters: physical activity and sports; proper nutrition; dangerous behavior & how to avoid it; sustainable development and social responsibility; and sports campus management.
AU’s Unit of Athletics submitted a detailed report presenting evidence on how AU has taken care of each of the above parameters to ensure a healthy campus. The Evaluation Committee of the Arab Universities sports federation was satisfied with AU’s impressive progress on these parameters and awarded us a Bronze for our efforts.
Other winning universities at the competition included Bethlehem University-Lebanon; Arab American university-Palestine; South Valley University-Egypt; United Arab Emirates University-UAE; University of Sharjah-UAE; University of Technology and Applied Science-Oman; Al-Ahliyya Amman University-Jordan; Private Polytechnic School of Engineering-Tunis; and University of Al-Hamdaniya-Iraq.
One of the key goals of the competition is to foster a healthy educational environment during the current Coronavirus pandemic that has restricted universities from organizing physical and sports activities for students.
Events like the Healthy Sports Campus competition facilitate the exchange of best practices and educational experiences among Arab universities.
Through the exchange of pioneering ideas and success stories, Arab universities can ensure that their campuses are well-equipped to handle the physical and mental well-being of the students and the local community.
