The Office of Community Engagement, Ajman University (AU), has organized a timely workshop to develop students’ financial awareness.
The function, themed “Money Smart”, was held on February 27, 2020, in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank.
The workshop, which saw the presence of over 60 male and female students from different colleges and majors, is meant to train AU students how to best manage their own budget.
Noor Al Chaghouri Head of Community Service, said Ajman University spares no effort to prepare a generation effective in knowledge growth and national economy. “Such workshops play a critical role in this regard.”
All students need to be trained on the right concept of financial management, she added. “They are soon to move from students with small budgets to officials with monthly salaries and bigger financial commitments.”
The interactive session was a valuable addition to the participating students who were given certificates of participation, Al Chaghouri pointed out. “Six students were later presented with valuable prizes based on a raffle draw.”
Talking about her own financial experience, Marwa Al Balooshi, an executive with the Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, said it is of great importance for anyone to learn how to best manage their budget, be it small or big.
“Students should never be lured by unnecessary expenses, banking facilities, easy loans, and credit cards.”
Karin Saad, a student of the College of Business Administration, was so excited to participate in this “informative and interesting” workshop.
“These workshops are so enlightening and do help us learn how to save money and deal with real life affairs in a better way.”
