AU Architecture Students were part of a prestigious project in the Emirates of Ajman, to design the latest Safia Park. AU projects won many accolades for their innovation and efficiency amongst others at the competition.
The first three positions were all bagged by AU students. First place went to the project “Eco-Friendly Park” which was delivered by Faten Sameer, Dena Naidh and Ola Ramadan under the supervision of Mrs. Mona Mahmoud Salameh. The main concept of the project was to make earth-friendly design by producing electricity from clean renewable energy . The aim of the park is to have green practices that help conserve resources like water and energy.
The second prize winner was “Zayed Park” project was done by students Saady Abbas, Abdul Muain and Osama Dabsi, under the supervision of Ms. Raghad Mourad. The main concept of the project was to divide the area into parts according to the stages of the UAE history reflecting the main elements of each stage of history along with the development process.
The design that won the third place for the Safia Park project was aptly titled “waves” which was accomplished by students Dhayaghim Ali Alshammari , Shahd Ahmed Muzamil and Reem khalfan under the supervision of Mrs. Mona Mahmoud Salameh . The main concept of the project was to reflect the dynamic motion of the sea waves on the landscape features and circulation. It gives the visitors a variety of movement patterns and paths to explore, with some important features like an amphitheater, which is the focal point of the project, beside the sitting area under the elevated hill instead of the traditional shading devices. All the suggested plants and trees were local plants from UAE .
The competition was organized by Ajman Municipality and Development, where in students from different educational institutions across the emirates participated with their innovative and sustainable designs.
