As part of its service to the community and recognizing the importance of making access to oral health care convenient for everyone, particularly seniors, Ajman University (AU) organized free dental-checkups and treatments for 15 senior citizens at the Seniors Happiness Center in Dubai on September 8. The initiative was coordinated by the Office of Community Services, Ajman University.
The modern mobile dental clinic includes two built-in dental units, a wheel chair carrier lift, an X-ray machine and a sterilization device. The AU dental team comprising 2 alumni dentists and 3 inter dentists have been thoroughly trained and prepared for the fieldwork on the importance of oral hygiene.
Since 2018, Ajman University (AU) mobile dental clinic in collaboration with the Office of Community Services, has been an important oral health resource for the community, bringing free basic dental services to the community, especially those who are frail, people of determination and school students, providing quality dental care from specialists to an average of 2500 citizens and residents annually all over the UAE.
“It is important that all seniors have access to dental preventative and treatment services. It is a tremendous method to allow us to promote oral health and to treat patients in our community,” said Noor Al Chagouri, Head of Community Services at AU. “This program allows us to conduct exams and treat people who need it most and who have difficulty in accessing conventional dental clinics. We will always ensure that the mobile dental clinic program will continue to address the community needs in accessing quality dental care.”
